We’re thrilled to announce E. Matthew “Whiz” Buckley as our newest advisory board member. A former TOPGUN fighter pilot and a leading advocate for psychedelic-assisted therapy, Buckley brings invaluable insights into treating veterans with trauma and addiction. Through his No Fallen Heroes Foundation, he supports veterans seeking healing through psychedelic therapies.
We are advancing DMX-1001 (oral noribogaine), a promising neuroplastogen targeting Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). Currently in IND-enabling studies, this first-in-class treatment is poised for a Phase 2 trial in 2026. Noribogaine, the active metabolite of ibogaine, shows potential for addiction treatment with fewer side effects.
“Veterans face significant challenges with psychiatric disorders, and innovative solutions like noribogaine are crucial,” said Buckley. “DemeRx’s groundbreaking work offers hope to countless families affected by addiction.”
Deborah Mash, CEO and Founder of DemeRx, praised Buckley’s expertise in veterans affairs and mental health as a valuable addition to the board.
According to VeteranAddiction.org, around 11% of veterans seeking VA care have a substance use disorder, with binge drinking being particularly prevalent. Co-occurring disorders are common among veterans, highlighting the urgent need for effective treatments.
